Tracking that keeps going with SkyYoke closed
Swipe SkyYoke away and your flight keeps moving on the Lock Screen — updated about once a minute, through AutoPilot+ pauses and long-hauls, all the way to landing.
SkyYoke's Flight Live Activity doesn't need the app to be open. SkyYoke's live service reads your flight from Infinite Flight's live data about once a minute and pushes each update to your iPhone, so the Lock Screen card and Dynamic Island keep moving with SkyYoke closed. It shows AutoPilot+ pauses and resumes on the same card, hands long-hauls over before iOS's 8-hour limit, and ends when you land.
Close the app. The flight keeps moving.
- Close SkyYokeSwipe it away — the card stays and updates about once a minute.
- Arriving soonAbout 30 minutes out the footer turns into the teal pill.
- LandedThe bar fills green: “Landed at RCTP” with the time.
- Clears itselfA few minutes later the finished card leaves on its own.
Most apps can only update their Live Activity while they are running. SkyYoke's doesn't depend on the app at all: the updates come from SkyYoke's live service, which reads your flight from Infinite Flight's live data about once a minute and pushes each update to your iPhone. So you can close SkyYoke, lock your phone, go and make a coffee — the card keeps gliding along the route.
- Infinite Flight's live service knows where every multiplayer flight is.
- SkyYoke's live service checks your flight about once a minute: phase, position along the route, altitude, speed, distance and ETA.
- Your iPhone receives the update as a push and redraws the card — no app running.
When you land, the card shows Landed with the airport and time, and clears itself a few minutes later — or as soon as you open SkyYoke. If you divert, it says Diverted and names the airport you came down at.
AutoPilot+ pauses, handled
- CruisingYour flight in the background, the card updating normally.
- Pilot awayA moon on the chip shows you've stepped away from the controls.
- Paused by AutoPilot+Near the top of descent AutoPilot+ holds the flight — the card says so, with a resume-by time.
- Resume in Infinite FlightContinue the flight and the same card picks up where it left off.
With Infinite Flight's AutoPilot+, you can leave a flight running in the background, and near the top of descent Infinite Flight pauses it until you come back. SkyYoke recognises that pause instead of mistaking it for a lost flight: the chip turns violet, the footer reads Paused by AutoPilot+ with the time to resume by, and the distance left stays on the card. Press continue in Infinite Flight and the same card carries on.
Late updates, and flights longer than eight hours
- Updating…An update is late: the bar dims and an amber Updating… appears.
- Open SkyYoke to resumeNo update for a long while — the card says how to get live data back.
- Long-haul hand-overNear iOS's 8-hour limit, a fresh Live Activity quietly takes over.
The card is honest about how fresh it is. If an update is late, the bar dims and an amber Updating… appears; after a long silence it tells you to open SkyYoke to resume live updates. And because iOS ends any Live Activity after eight hours, a long-haul is handed over to a new Live Activity automatically before that — you just see the flight continue.
More about the Live Activity
Frequently asked questions
How the Flight Live Activity starts, what it shows and when it ends.
Does the Live Activity work with SkyYoke closed?+
Yes. The updates are sent by SkyYoke's live service, not by the app. It reads your flight from Infinite Flight's live data about once a minute and pushes each update to your iPhone, so the card keeps moving with SkyYoke closed and the phone locked.
How often does it update?+
About once a minute. Between updates the aircraft and numbers glide to their new positions when the next update arrives.
What happens when AutoPilot+ pauses my flight?+
The card shows Paused by AutoPilot+ in violet, with the distance left and the time to resume by. When you continue the flight in Infinite Flight, the same card carries on.
What about flights longer than eight hours?+
iOS ends a Live Activity after eight hours, so SkyYoke hands a long-haul over to a new Live Activity automatically before that. The flight simply continues on your Lock Screen.
When does the Live Activity end?+
When you land it shows Landed at your arrival airport, then clears itself a few minutes later, or when you open SkyYoke. It also ends if the flight leaves the server.
